A Hello From Our Designer
Nothing is more exciting and often terrifying than “swimsuit season”! We have all been there: bottoms that are too snuggly and tops that are too big or vice versa. Having no freedom when it comes to buying pieces separately and having to make do with the manufactured sets. Only a woman knows what it is like to try on swimsuits, I've been there and the shopping experience can be anything but pleasant.
Whether you are partying in Saint Tropez, surfing in Bali, or living it up on a beach anywhere in the world, the mix and match pieces of our collection are bound to take you from one place to the other in effortless style. For years I wondered why bikinis didn’t fit me right and I had to keep running to a seamstress to modify it to my body and make it fit. Very often this costs more than what I had paid for the actual swimwear. I am very petite (5 ft 2) the choices I often found were either "micro" or very small bikinis, or bigger cut bottoms that drowned my frame.
So after years of frustration, I decided that if I was going through this ordeal every summer, then others must be too. To give women a better choice in swimwear is the motivation behind BETThER, to make beachwear that is better for you, to make swimsuits work for your body and shape.
I always loved Brazilian swimwear, but quickly realized that they don’t fit most people the same way. Not every woman has a six-pack and not every woman has a supermodel’s small breast and hips. I envisioned a re-worked “Rio” look that fits better but stays true to the look we all love and envy (when done right!). I call it my Brazilian Adapted Cut.
My Brazilian adapted styles are designed with people like you and me in mind. I am not the leanest and definitely not the tallest! But I want to make the best out of my figure, when I realized that no one else was designing something better for me, I decided to do it myself and I, along with my friends, are loving the results!
So!.. I hope that you will enjoy our 2009 collection called "Miragem" (Brazilian for Mirage). The pieces are named after friends, all beautiful, independent women who inspired these designs.
